Calls for study into effect of computer games on children's brains

Lady Greenfield, The leading neuroscientist and director of the Royal Institution, wants a fund for a study into the impact of computer games and social network sites on the development of children’s brains. Lady Greenfield will call for ministers and warn in her speech about the obsession children have with social network sites. There is a risk that those children may isolate themselves more than children who spend less time on social network sites. It may have a negative effect on children and they relate to others in the real world.

Lady Greenfield also says: ‘‘There is no serious research work done anywhere on the impact of repeated use of computers on the development of the brain.’’ She also thinks parents are very interested in this subject because it matters their children’s lives.

  1. I think Greenfield is right. Nowadays we see many children playing games on the computer. They get addicted and forget their social life. Even children from age of three play games on the computer. Children have more interest in computer games than playing outside.
